Welcome to Our Community Standards
Dating is fundamentally about human connection. When adults come together to explore romance, companionship, or meaningful relationships, the quality of that experience depends heavily on the atmosphere of the community they join.
Amoura exists to offer a respectful environment where adults (18+) can discover potential partners, converse freely, and form genuine bonds (learn more in Why Amoura Is an 18+ Dating Platform). To foster that culture, every member who registers agrees to follow these Community Guidelines.
These guidelines are not intended to restrict natural personality, humor, or authentic expression. Rather, they establish a baseline of courtesy, personal safety, and shared accountability. While our formal legal terms are set out in the Terms & Conditions, this document explains in practical language what is encouraged, what is prohibited, and how we handle conduct that falls short.
Our Core Community Principles
Before looking at specific rules, four foundational principles guide every feature, interaction, and conversation on Amoura:
Treat People With Dignity
Behind every profile card is a real person with their own hopes, vulnerabilities, and feelings. Approach every conversation with common courtesy and kindness.
Be Honest About Who You Are
Present yourself truthfully. Authentic dating requires recent photos of yourself, accurate age representation, and straightforward intentions (see our guides on How to Choose Good Dating Photos and How to Create an Honest Dating Profile).
Respect Boundaries & Consent
Consent is ongoing and mandatory. If a match declines an offer, wishes to slow down, or unmatches, respect their choice immediately without debate.
Never Exploit or Harass
We maintain zero tolerance for financial deception, abusive conduct, intimidation, hate speech, or commercial exploitation.
Respectful Interaction in Practice
Online communication lacks vocal tone, facial expressions, and body language, making thoughtful wording particularly important. Respectful interaction on Amoura means:
What Is Welcome
- Starting conversations with thoughtful questions about shared interests
- Being transparent about your communication pace and lifestyle goals
- Accepting differences in perspective or opinion with good humor
- Graciously accepting when someone chooses not to continue chatting
- Politely letting someone know if you don't feel a mutual romantic spark
What Is Not Welcome
- Bombarding a match with multiple messages demanding an instant reply
- Responding to disinterest with insults, sarcasm, or derogatory remarks
- Demanding personal social media handles or phone numbers immediately
- Directing unwanted sexual comments toward someone who has not invited them
- Making guilt-tripping comments because someone took time to reply
Handling Rejection With Maturity
Rejection is an inevitable aspect of dating everywhere. Not every conversation leads to a date, and not every match develops into romantic chemistry.
When a match passes on your profile, stops replying, or unmatches, that is their personal prerogative. Reacting with hostility, demands for an explanation, or insults is a clear breach of these guidelines. A respectful community member simply moves forward with grace.
Harassment, Bullying & Threats
Nobody should experience fear, humiliation, or persistent distress while seeking a relationship. Amoura strictly prohibits any behavior intended to intimidate, threaten, or persecute another person.
Prohibited Forms of Harassment
- Persistent unwanted pursuit: Continuing to send messages, create new accounts to contact someone after being blocked, or tracking down their external personal profiles against their wishes.
- Direct threats of violence or harm: Stating or implying physical violence, property damage, or distress against another member, their family, or associates.
- Targeted humiliation and insults: Using degrading language regarding someone's physical appearance, weight, intellect, or personal circumstances.
- Defamation and blackmail: Threatening to expose private conversations, fabricate rumors, or harm someone's reputation.
If someone makes credible threats to your physical safety or displays stalking behaviour, cease all communication immediately and contact your local emergency services (999 in the UK, 911 in North America, or 112 in the EU). Platform reporting tools complement, but can never replace, professional emergency intervention.
Hate Speech & Discrimination
Our community welcomes adults from diverse backgrounds, faiths, cultures, and identities. Discrimination, dehumanizing language, and the promotion of hatred have no place on Amoura.
Our Standards Concerning Protected Characteristics
You must not post, upload, or transmit content that attacks, dehumanizes, incites hatred against, or promotes violence toward any individual or group based on:
- Race, ethnicity, or national origin
- Religious faith or spiritual beliefs
- Disability, neurodivergence, or serious medical conditions
- Biological sex, gender identity, or gender expression
- Sexual orientation
- Age (subject to our strict adult-only policy)
Having personal preferences regarding romantic partners is a natural part of dating. However, expressing those preferences by disparaging, mocking, or promoting bigotry toward entire demographic groups in profile text, prompts, or messages constitutes a direct violation of our rules.
Sexual Conduct & Prohibited Content
Amoura is an adult dating platform designed for genuine interpersonal romance. While mutual flirting and romantic conversation between consenting adults are natural, we enforce clear boundaries regarding sexual content:
Public Profile Media Rules
- No nudity or sexually explicit media: Profile photos and shared public media must not display exposed genitalia, exposed buttocks, or exposed female breasts. Benign everyday photos, such as beach swimwear or gym athletic wear, are permitted provided they remain non-explicit.
- No sexually graphic illustrations or pornography: Uploading adult animation, explicit artwork, or commercial adult materials is prohibited.
- No uninvited sexually explicit messages: Initiating unsolicited graphic sexual descriptions, requesting intimate photographs, or sending unwanted explicit commentary violates member consent (read Why You Should Never Send Intimate Photographs).
Commercial Sexual Activity & Prostitution
In alignment with Section 5.5 of our Terms & Conditions, commercial sexual arrangements of any kind are strictly prohibited. You must not use Amoura to:
- Solicit or offer sexual services in exchange for money, compensation, financial support, gifts, or favors.
- Advertise or facilitate escort services, brothels, or commercial adult entertainment.
- Promote transactional dating arrangements (such as "sugar dating" or cash-per-meet arrangements).
- Promote commercial external links, premium adult messaging accounts, or subscription services.
Non-Consensual Imagery and Severe Abuses
Sharing or threatening to share intimate photographs of someone without their explicit verifiable consent (Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery / sextortion), as well as any involvement in human trafficking or sexual exploitation, results in immediate permanent account termination and referral to law enforcement bodies including the National Crime Agency (NCA) and police services.
Fraud & Financial Solicitation
Using Amoura to manipulate, deceive, or financially exploit other members is an immediate violation of our community trust.
Prohibited Financial Conduct
- Requesting money or financial assistance: Asking matches for funds, loans, travel expenses, gas money, phone bills, or living costs, regardless of the scenario described.
- Promoting investment or trading schemes: Offering coaching, proprietary platforms, foreign exchange tips, or cryptocurrency investments to people you meet.
- Gift card and wire transfer demands: Requesting payments via money transfer services, bank wire, prepaid cards, or voucher codes.
- Phishing and credential harvesting: Attempting to obtain another member's passwords, bank details, card numbers, or identity documents.
For practical education on recognizing emotional manipulation, emergency stories, and fake trading schemes, read our dedicated guide on How to Recognise a Romance Scam.
Authenticity & Honest Profiles
Meaningful relationships depend on authenticity. When you create an account on Amoura, you agree to represent yourself honestly and accurately.
Prohibited Profile Deceptions
- Impersonating others: Posing as someone else, using another individual's photographs without their permission, or pretending to represent a celebrity, public figure, or business.
- Misrepresenting fundamental details: Submitting a false date of birth to bypass age verification, or deliberately concealing identity through exclusively stolen media.
- Operating multiple or automated accounts: Creating repetitive accounts after being removed, or utilizing automated bot software to manage interactions.
While our guide on How to Spot a Fake Dating Profile explores how members can evaluate red flags, this guideline sets the rule: every member must be who they say they are.
Respecting Member Privacy (Anti-Doxxing)
Respecting personal boundaries extends to safeguarding other members' confidentiality and personal information.
Privacy Violations We Enforce Against
- Publishing private information (Doxxing): Sharing another member's full legal name, home address, workplace, phone number, or private photographs on public forums or social networks without their written consent.
- Disclosing private chats: Recording or publishing private in-app messages to mock, harass, or humiliate a match.
- Illicit background investigations: Aggressively investigating a member's offline family members or workplace to confront or intimidate them.
For information on how Amoura itself processes and secures account records, please consult our formal Privacy Policy.
Spam, Commercial Promotion & Platform Misuse
Amoura is designed for interpersonal dating, not commercial marketing or promotional broadcasts.
Prohibited Commercial and Technical Misuse
- Commercial promotion: Using bios or direct messages to advertise commercial businesses, YouTube channels, adult webcam platforms, or products.
- Repetitive spam messaging: Sending mass-duplicated promotional text, copy-pasted affiliate links, or automated survey invitations.
- Technical interference: Attempting to reverse engineer, scrape, flood, or bypass API security limits, or using auto-swiping extensions or GPS spoofing tools to distort platform mechanics.
Genuine Use & Dating Goals
Dating means different things to different people. Some members are searching for marriage and long-term partnership, while others are seeking casual dating, companionship, or new social connections.
All consensual adult dating goals are welcome on Amoura, provided they are pursued with transparency and honesty. We expect members to:
- Communicate their dating intentions straightforwardly so potential matches can make informed decisions.
- Avoid leading someone on under false pretenses or deliberately manipulating emotional vulnerabilities.
- Respect that others may have different dating timelines, values, and relationship orientations.
What Happens When Guidelines Are Broken?
Maintaining these community standards requires active, responsible oversight. When a violation is reported or identified, our moderation system applies proportionate enforcement measures:
Formal Warnings
For minor, non-malicious misunderstandings or borderline content, members may receive an educational warning reminding them of platform standards.
Media & Text Removal
Photographs or bio text that breach standards are removed. Rejected photos are permanently purged from database records and storage disks.
Temporary or Permanent Ban
Severe, repeated, or dangerous violations—such as harassment, fraud, hate speech, commercial sexual activity, or underage concerns—lead to immediate permanent account termination.
Our moderation practices combine automated screening to detect problematic patterns with trained human reviewers who evaluate context. We do not claim that automated tools make perfect determinations in every circumstance, which is why member reports remain a vital element of our safety framework.
Reporting Violations on Amoura
If you encounter a profile or message that violates these Community Guidelines, we encourage you to report it immediately.
Reporting is fast, confidential, and accessible directly within every profile card and conversation thread. When you submit a report:
- You can choose an accurate category (such as inappropriate content, spam/fake, harassment, or underage concerns).
- You can provide optional written context to help our moderation team evaluate the incident.
- You can choose to simultaneously block the user, which instantly terminates any active match and isolates the accounts.
- The reported user is never notified of who submitted the report.
By reporting problematic conduct rather than engaging in prolonged arguments, you help protect not only yourself, but the entire Amoura community. For practical instructions on using our tools, review How to Report a User on Amoura and How Amoura Moderation Works.
If You Are Unsure What to Do
Human interactions can sometimes be ambiguous. If you are uncertain whether a particular behavior crosses the line into a guideline violation, ask yourself these practical questions:
- Was my personal boundary clearly expressed? Did the other person continue pursuing, pressuring, or messaging after I declined?
- Does the interaction involve manipulation or deception? Am I being asked for money, personal account codes, or urgent favors?
- Do I feel safe and respected? Does the conversation leave me feeling uncomfortable, intimidated, or demeaned?
You never need to justify leaving a conversation that makes you uncomfortable. You have full authority to unmatch, block, or report an account at any time. You do not need to investigate a suspect profile yourself—simply submit a report and let our safety team handle the review (see How to Block and Report Someone on a Dating App and How to Handle Suspicious or Uncomfortable Behaviour).
Community Guidelines FAQ
Are the Community Guidelines the same as the Terms & Conditions?
No. The Community Guidelines provide a clear, practical explanation of expected personal conduct and standards. The Terms & Conditions form the legally binding contract between you and Amoura. Both work together to govern platform use.
What happens after I report another member?
Your report enters our prioritized moderation queue. Severe categories like underage safety or harassment receive critical escalation. Our moderation team reviews the reported profile, media, and context against our guidelines and takes appropriate action (warnings, content removal, or account bans).
Does having a disagreement with a match violate the guidelines?
No. Normal differences in opinion, lifestyle, or perspective are a natural part of conversation. Disagreements only breach our rules if they escalate into abusive language, personal insults, harassment, hate speech, or persistent unwanted messaging.
Can I block someone even if they haven't broken any rules?
Yes, absolutely. You can block any member at any time for any reason. Blocking is completely confidential, immediate, and does not require an accompanying safety report if no policy violation took place.
What should I do if a match makes me feel uncomfortable?
Trust your instincts. You are never obligated to maintain conversation with anyone who makes you uncomfortable. Unmatch or block the user immediately. If their behavior was abusive, fraudulent, or threatening, submit a report via the in-app safety shield.
